Need an easy last-minute dinner idea or a nutritious dinner for one? These individually packaged single-serving Mirin Kasuzuke fish are the answer. Gindara, also known as Black Cod or Sablefish, is a tender white flesh fish with a mild and buttery flavor. It is rich in omega 3’s EPA and DHA. The marinade consists of mirin and sake kasu (sake lees). Sake kasu is a by-product of sake production. Not only is it packed with nutrients, sake kasu adds complex umami flavors while masking any unwanted fish odors. Simply bake in a toaster oven or fish roaster.

🍳How to cook Suzunami Mirin Kasuzuke Fish
PREPARATION
  • Remove fish from packaging.
  • With a paper towel, wipe off any excess moisture and marinade.
TOASTER OVEN INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil. Fold sides to create walls around the edges to prevent any broth from spilling.
  2. In a 400° oven, bake skin side up for 4-5 minutes. Bake the backside for 3-4 minutes.
STOVETOP INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Line heated frying pan with parchment paper. Place fish skin side down.
  2. On medium heat, cook for 3-5 minutes. When sufficiently browned, flip fillet.
  3. Lower heat slightly and cook other side for an additional 3-5 minutes (*cooking time will depend on the thickness of fish).
FISH GRILL INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Pour a small amount of water at the bottom of the grill.
  2. Coat grill grates with oil to prevent fish from sticking. Place fish skin side up.
  3. Bake on low heat (top and bottom) for 5 to 6 minutes (*cooking time will depend on the thickness of fish + model of the fish grill).
